On a certain Saturday night in spring, at 23:00.
In an alleyway just off the main street, I found a woman sitting and sleeping alone in a flower bed.
She was young. And her sleeping face was strikingly beautiful.
I shook her awake to talk.
She stared blankly in my direction, starting to talk nonstop.………It was on the way back from a friend of a friend's wedding reception. She had drunk too much and couldn't resist sleep, falling asleep by the roadside. It was at the wedding of someone she barely knew.
Every time I attend a wedding, my mood inexplicably turns dark…… I took her to a nearby izakaya and decided to get her to drink a little more. Eventually, after seeing off the last train, she stumbled over to my place.
And soon after lying down on the bed, I fell into a deep sleep. Watching her breathe softly, I started to think. Until dawn…a few more hours. The night is long, but this is where it really starts……….
